Effective Date From Stampy's public launch
Important: please read these Terms before playing. Safety comes before points and prizes.
1. About these Terms
1.1 These Terms govern use of Stampy, a location-based tile-claiming game available at stampy.mt and under the store name StampyMalta. Stampy is operated and all competitions are administered by Untangled Media Limited. Public parts of the map may be viewed without an account, but you must sign in before you can claim a tile or participate in a competition. By creating an account or claiming a tile, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
1.2 Stampy is free to play and is currently supported by advertising. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. Any future paid feature will not provide points, claims, multipliers or another competitive advantage.
2. Eligibility and accounts
2.1 You must be at least 13. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use Stampy and participate in competitions. The sign-up confirmation is: “I’m 13 or older. If I’m under 18, I have permission from a parent or guardian. I agree to Stampy’s Terms and Privacy Policy.” A parent or guardian must also approve and accept any prize for a winner under 18.
2.2 Participation is for individuals only. One person may hold one account. Accounts are personal and may not be transferred, shared or used to claim for another person. Companies, teams, organisations, automated accounts and direct employees of Untangled Media Limited may not participate. Anyone may play, including tourists and non-residents, but prizes are distributed only in Malta and Gozo and no overseas delivery is provided.
2.3 Registration may use Google, Apple or direct entry. You must provide accurate information and maintain a working email address. Display names or nicknames must not be offensive, misleading, impersonating, promotional, unlawful or disclose personal information. We may change or remove an unsuitable display name.
3. How tile claiming works
3.1 Malta and Gozo are divided into approximately 50 metre by 50 metre tiles. A tile is non-exclusive: every eligible user may claim it. To claim, Stampy must be open, you must be signed in, a live data connection and permitted device location must be available, and you must press the claim button. Offline, retrospective and automatic claims are not accepted.
3.2 Each user may claim each tile once per calendar month. There is no overall daily or monthly claim limit. A normal valid claim earns one point. The first valid user to claim that tile during that month earns two points. If a sponsored tile is introduced, its valid claim earns additional points without purchase, payment or any requirement to enter premises. If the same claim is also the first monthly claim, the bonuses stack and it earns additional points. If a first claim is later invalidated, its first-claim bonus is not reassigned.
3.3 Location readings can drift. Claims with reported location accuracy worse than 40 metres are not accepted, and at least 10 seconds must pass between claims, including claims in adjacent tiles. We may apply a reasonable boundary tolerance, adjust these controls and use other checks designed to protect safety and competition integrity. The map, GPS reading and tile boundary are not guaranteed to be exact. Points have no monetary value, cannot be sold, transferred, traded or redeemed, and confer no property or access right.
4. Monthly competitions and leaderboards
4.1 Each competition runs from 00:00 on the first day to 23:59:59 on the last day of the calendar month, Malta time. Monthly claim eligibility and monthly scores reset for the next competition. Stampy may retain lifetime claim history and totals while an account remains active for future game versions.
4.2 The live leaderboard is provisional. Winners are determined solely by the final verified leaderboard and not by chance or a draw. If users have the same final score, the higher place goes to the user who reached that score first, using the timestamp of the final qualifying claim. We normally publish the final verified leaderboard within three days after month-end but may take longer for integrity, technical or eligibility checks.
4.3 The prizes and number of winners may change each month. They are displayed at the start of the relevant month in the Stampy App and at stampy.mt. Once announced for a competition, a prize will not be reduced retrospectively. If it becomes unavailable, we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
5. Prizes
5.1 Prizes may include cash or electronic payments, vouchers, products, experiences or tickets. Cash remains a cash prize. A non-cash prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and has no cash alternative. Third-party prizes may be subject to supplier terms, age limits, dates, identification and conduct rules.
5.2 Winners are contacted only by email and must check their inbox and junk folder. A winner must respond within 14 days. An unclaimed or forfeited prize remains unawarded and does not pass to the next person. Collection, payment or fulfilment arrangements and any deadline will be stated in the winner email. Winners are responsible for travel, collection, taxes, transport, accommodation and incidental costs unless the prize description expressly includes them.
5.3 A winner under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian confirm consent by email and accept the prize on the minor’s behalf. We may request reasonable proof of identity, age, eligibility or guardianship. We may share the minimum winner information needed with a prize supplier only after informing the winner and obtaining any consent that is legally required.
5.4 Untangled Media Limited is the organiser even where a sponsor supplies a prize. Apple Inc. and Google LLC do not sponsor, administer or endorse Stampy competitions and are not involved in awarding prizes. We will use reasonable efforts to provide the advertised prize or a permitted substitute, but third-party fulfilment, quality, safety and availability remain subject to the relevant supplier and applicable non-excludable rights.
6. Safety comes before tiles
6.1 No tile is worth taking a risk. A tile shown on the map is not an invitation, permission, assurance of public access, confirmation of ownership, or a statement that the place or route is safe. We do not inspect or certify every tile or route. You are responsible for your route, surroundings, fitness, transport, equipment and personal safety and must stop if conditions are unsafe.
6.2 Do not trespass; enter private, closed or restricted property; cross barriers; access roofs, cliffs, construction sites, abandoned structures, roads, railways or dangerous waterways; interfere with traffic; damage property; disturb people or animals; litter; or disobey signs, laws, weather warnings, emergency directions or property owners. Stay aware and look up from the screen.
6.3 You may travel on foot or by lawful means such as bicycle, public transport, car, boat or horse, but use must remain safe and lawful. A driver or rider must not operate Stampy while a vehicle or animal is moving. A passenger may use it only where doing so is safe and lawful.
6.4 Some tiles may be in or near the sea. These are intended to be reached, if at all, from a lawful and seaworthy boat operated safely with appropriate competence, permissions and safety equipment. Stampy does not recommend swimming, paddling, climbing or entering the sea to claim a tile. Do not go onto the water in unsafe weather or conditions. Report a dangerous, inaccessible or misplaced tile to info@stampy.mt. We may disable, remove or alter any tile at any time.
7. Fair play and enforcement
7.1 Prohibited conduct includes location or GPS spoofing; multiple accounts; bots, scripts, automation or emulators; account sharing; claiming for another person; falsifying information; manipulating time, devices or network data; exploiting bugs; interfering with Stampy; or conduct intended to obtain points or prizes unfairly.
7.2 Where reasonably necessary, we may investigate, invalidate claims, remove points, recalculate rankings, suspend or close accounts, disqualify users, withhold or recover prizes, and retain a limited fraud or ban record. A user may request one review by emailing info@stampy.mt within seven days of notice. We will consider relevant information and our decision is final, subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded.
8. Availability and changes
8.1 Stampy is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, perfect map or GPS accuracy, successful claims, particular tiles, a minimum number of competitions or prizes, or compatibility with every device. Services may depend on networks, devices, AWS, Google or Apple sign-in, Google advertising, MapLibre and OpenStreetMap data.
8.2 We may correct obvious errors and change the grid, tiles, scoring, features or future rules; suspend or discontinue Stampy; or remove content for safety, legal, technical, anti-abuse or operational reasons. Material changes apply prospectively and will be notified in the app or on the website where appropriate. There is no compensation for points or progress, but we will honour properly won prizes subject to these Terms and applicable law.
9. Intellectual property and acceptable use
9.1 Stampy, its software, design, branding, game mechanics and content are owned by or licensed to Untangled Media Limited. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database Licence; MapLibre components remain subject to their applicable open-source licences. You may use Stampy personally as permitted by these Terms, but may not scrape, copy, reverse engineer, circumvent controls, commercially exploit, overload, disrupt or misuse it except to the extent a restriction is prohibited by law.
10. Apple Disclaimer
10.1 The Stampy Malta contest is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Apple Inc. Apple is not involved in the contest in any way.
11. Liability
11.1 You are responsible for your own unlawful, unsafe or reckless conduct and, to the extent permitted by law, for third-party claims caused by that conduct. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
11.2 Subject to the previous sentence, Untangled Media Limited is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss caused by third-party services, inaccurate GPS or maps, connectivity, device failure, unauthorised conduct, ignored warnings or unsafe access. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability connected with a claim is limited to the greater of €100 or the value of the prize directly concerned.
12. Privacy, deletion and communications
12.1 Our Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled. Service, security, account, competition and prize emails are part of operating Stampy; we do not currently send marketing emails. You may request corrections through info@stampy.mt and delete your account in the app after a warning and confirmation.
12.2 Deletion immediately removes the account’s personal data, claimed-tile records (including associated coordinates), badges, season results, active points and other game records from active systems, and forfeits unclaimed prizes. If the deleted player held a displayed leaderboard position, the entry may remain solely to preserve the leaderboard result and will appear as “Deleted User”. Deleted data may remain in routine backups for up to seven days. A prize already validly claimed may continue to be processed, and accounting, dispute-prevention and legal records may be retained where necessary. We may delete an account after three years without login following reasonable advance email notice.
13. General
13.1 We may transfer Stampy and relevant rights and obligations as part of a sale, merger or reorganisation, subject to applicable data-protection requirements. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder continues. Delay in enforcement is not a waiver. These Terms and notices are in English, and the English version governs.
13.2 These Terms are governed by Maltese law and the courts of Malta have jurisdiction, without removing mandatory consumer rights or mandatory jurisdiction that applies where a user lives. Questions, appeals, prize claims and safety reports should be sent to info@stampy.mt.
